Jeff Beck Strat Bridge

When I got my first Strat – actually a cheapie Strat copy – I remember being fascinated with the six-screw vintage-style vibrato bridge. With it I could simulate motorcycle engines, rocket blasts, whale calls, the sound of the coyote falling over a cliff in the old Roadrunner cartoons, and even use it to perform actual music.

It was pretty sweet. But then I listened closely to a few of my favourite artists and I realised they were tapping into something extra with their whammy bars, something I wasn’t able to achieve with my mere old-school non-locking wiggle stick. They could go up.
